AN INTER-FAITH YOUTH CONFERENCE
IS HELD IN GREECE
The Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), the Ecumenical Youth Council of
Europe and the Federation of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations
jointly organized a Christian-Muslim youth conference on December 9-16 in
Volos, Greece. The theme of the conference was "Monologue or Dialogue?
Inter-religions Dialogue Meets Fundamentalism." Rev. Sahag Yemishian, deputy
director of the Youth Department, represented the Armenian Church -
Catholicosate of Cilicia in the conference.
Over 38 young delegates from over 15 Middle Eastern and European countries
discussed inter-faith dialogue and the impact and role of fundamentalism in
Christianity and Islam.
The conference provided a platform for representatives of different
religions and sects to learn about one another. As university students of
theological studies, the participants presented the viewpoints and positions
of their respective religions on a number of common issues. These were later
compiled in an accurate understanding of fundamentalism.
