    ARMENIAN NPP TO BE STOPPED FOR SCHEDULED CAPITAL REPAIR IN 2008

    YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP)
    will be stopped for scheduled capital repair in 2008, Armenia's
    Minister of Energy Armen Movsisian told journalists.

    The repair works are to be completed in three-month period by November
    2008 to ensure proper operation of the plant within the country's
    energy system in the winter period, the Minister said.

    He said that the country itself is going to carry out the capital
    repair works with assistance of technical experts from Slovakia and
    Check Republic, particularly "Scoda" company that has participated
    in similar projects in Armenia.

    He also pointed out that annual output of the Armenian NPP reaches
    2.5-2.7bln kilowatt-hour, which is about 40-50% of the overall power
    production in Armenia.

    The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) was commissioned in 1976
    (the second unit - in 1980).Currently only the second unit operates
    providing 40-50% of the overall power produced in Armenia.

    In September 2003, the financial flows of Armenian NPP were transferred
    to trust management of INTER RAO EES Closed Joint Stock Company -
    the daughter enterprise of RAO "EES Russia" (60% of the shares) and
    "Rosenergoatom" concern (40%). According to experts, the plant can
    operate till 2016.
