ARTUR ABRAHAM GIVEN HRANT SHAHINIAN GOLD MEDAL
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, NOYAN TAPAN. Artur Abraham, World Champion by
IBF version in the medium weight category is again in
Armenia. Yesterday he was received by Armenian National Olympic
Committee (ANOC) Chairman Gagik Tsarukian who gave him Hrant Shahinian
gold medal. As A. Abraham informed the journalists at the February 23
press conference, his forthcoming match is scheduled for April 21, but
his competitor is not determined yet. As regards the Artur Abraham -
Edison Miranda match, the boxer mentioned that before the match he
will give the following advice to Miranda: "If you cannot win a boxer
with a broken jaw, then you would better be engaged in another kind of
sport" (during the last Abraham - Miranda match the Armenian boxer
with a broken jaw won the Columbian boxer). The Professional Boxing
International Federation recognized the Abraham - Miranda match as the
best match in last 10 years. In Abraham's words, though he performs
under the German flag, he hoists the flag of the Republic of Armenia
after each match without fail. It should be mentioned that according
to the data of survey made by the Russian "REN-TV" TV channel, A.
Abraham was recognized the most charming and well-set sportsman.
