ORGANIZATIONS HEADED BY ZHIRAYR SEFILIAN CONTINUE WORKING
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, NOYAN TAPAN. The organizations headed by Zhirayr
Sefilian, Coordinator of Defence of Liberated Territories public
initiative, who is currently under custody, continue their normal
work. We mean the Defence of Liberated Territories public initiative,
as well as the Araks-Kur Fund, the Consolidation of Armenian
Volunteers, the Azatagrum (Liberation) periodical.
As Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by Armen Aghayan, temporary
Coordinator of Defence of Liberated Territories public initiative, the
Araks-Kur Fund, the Chairman of Board of Trustees of which is Zhirayr
Sefilian, works out and presents to the public of Armenia and Diaspora
investment programs, part of which is aimed at Javakhk development and
strengthening of Armenians' positions in the territory, and the others
are aimed at complete settlement and all-round appropriation of
Artsakh's liberated territories. Currently the Consolidation of
Armenian Volunteers carries out comparatively passive activity, which
is conditioned by Sefilian's and Malkhasian's arrests. Primordially
the goal of the Consolidation of Armenian Volunteers was to control
the process of forthcoming NA elections, but after the organization's
well-known meeting the number of volunteers has considerably
reduced. Nevertheless, in Aghayan's words, they have more than 500
volunteers who are ready to assist opposition parties in the issue of
controlling the process of voting in various districts. The Azatagrum
periodical's publishing was stopped due to computers' confiscation as
a result of office's search after Sefilian's arrest. In A. Aghayan's
words, the periodical's fifth issue will be published soon. As Aghayan
stated, committees of support to Sefilian and Malkhasian have been
formed in a number of centers of Diaspora. They periodically organize
rallies and press conferences, make statements. The health condition
of Z. Sefilian and V. Malkhasian being under custody for 2.5 months
is good, the jail conditions are also good. As Aghayan characterized,
in the place of imprisonment they show "emphasized respectful
attitude" to Z. Sefilian.
