Deputy of European Parliament "re-invents the wheel" for the Karabakh
conflict settlement
"We would very much like Armenia to sit down at the negotiating table
with Azebriajan." Such a surprising statement was made by Cem Ozdemir,
European Parliament member from Germany, Turk by nationality, during
his meeting with students in Baku.
To remind, today the Karabakh peace talks are being held exactly
between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Ozdemir said that Europe should play an active role in the process.
Neither Azerbaijan with Turkey nor Europe approve of Armenia's close
relations with Russia. "It is time to resolve the problem. We must
not admit further occupation of 20% of Azeri territories. Both the EU
and the European Parliament should intensify their efforts for
resolving the problem. Until now the European Parliament has paid
little attention to the Karabakh problem," Ozdemir said.
