The resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide will be most
probably adopted by April 24 of the current year. "Armenpress" was
told at the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) that the
latest changes in Washington provided a good opportunity to Armenians
to break the denialist policy of Turkey.

"Our friends from Congress will soon again present their resolution
and during these four months everything will be done to secure its
adoption," those in ANCA are confident. Frank Pallone's speech in
early December also provided a basis for optimism. He had noted that
the resolution would be definitely presented and had called on his
colleagues to promote the bill. The "Associated Press" periodical
quoted Congressman Adam Sciff as saying that today the Congress has
the best opportunity to adopt the resolution.

One of these days the "Daily News" expressed concern that "American
Armenians will do their best to reach the recognition of the
genocide." "The Armenian lobby has never been as strong as today,
and they comprehend it pretty well," the paper noted.

It's worth mentioning that in the previous Congress the adoption of
the resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide was backed by
    106 Congressmen.

The bill was unanimously adopted in the Foreign Relations Committee
of the House of Representatives. However, its adoption in the House
of Representatives was prevented by Speaker Denis Hustert.

New House Speaker Nanci Pelosi is known for her pro-Armenian position
and she has already declared she will continue promoting the adoption
of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide.
