Montreal Armenians commemorate Hrant Dink
MONTREAL JANUARY 24, 2007
On Tuesday January 23rd 2007 a rally was held in Dorchester Square
in the heart of Montreal; to commemorate Hrant Dink and to protest
the brutal murder that led to his untimely death. The protest was
organized jointly by the Armenian Revolutionary Party (Tashnagtsoutoun)
and the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (Ramgavar).
The rally was attended by more then 400 people who had gathered
to express their outrage and sorrow for the latest victim of the
Armenian Genocide.
Representatives from both political parties addressed the crowd
and emphasized the importance of unmasking the real perpetrators
of this crime. They also emphasized the necessity for Turkey to
end its denialist policies and for her to recognize the Armenian
Genocide. The rally also expressed its sympathies to Rachel Dink the
widow of Hrant Dink.
The local media in Montreal (print, radio and TV) covered the rally
as well as the impact of Hrant Dink's murder on the Armenian Community
of Quebec.
