    ARMENTEL ANNOUNCES NEW SERVICE

    YEREVAN, 9 July. /ARKA/. The ARMENTEL telecommunications company has
    announced a new service - wideband Internet using the ADSL (Asymmetric
    Digital Subscriber Line) technology, which will be available to
    subscriber to stationary telephone communication in Yerevan.

    ArmenTel's press service reports that the package of ADLS-based
    services includes an AMD 9,600 worth modem (VAT inclusive) and a
    service activation fee (AMD 4,800).

    The monthly user charge for the ASDL package is AMD 4,800 for 100
    MB of Internet traffic, 9160 AMD for 300 MB, 10800 AMD for 500 MB,
    27600 AMD for 2000 MB, 110700 AMD for 10,000 MB.

    The ASDL is a telecommunications technology for fixed free dial-up
    connection, supporting 8 MB/sec when sending data through telephone
    lines.

    The technology is designed for providing services using a HS digital
    channel for transferring data by means of the existing cable telephone
    lines.

    The ArmenTel CJSC, holding a monopoly of stationary telephone
    communication, is one of the two mobile phone service providers in
    Armenia. It is owned by the Russian company VimpelCom (under the
    Beeline brand).

    In late 2006, ArmenTel had 608,500 subscribers to stationary telephone
    communication and 452,000 mobile communication users.
