The press and public relations service of the Human Rights Defender's
office informed that in the first half of 2007 the ombudsman got
1353 complaints, including 503 in written form. In this period 2071
citizens turned to the ombudsman.
158 out of 503 letters of complaint were considered, in 62 complaints
the possibilities of defense of rights and freedoms were presented to
the complainer, 33 applications were handed over to other agencies. 195
complains were not attended to, 7 asked not to attend to their
complaints, 48 are under consideration. 36 got a positive solution.
Again most people complain of the City Hall 321, the Police 140,
courts of law 70, the Office of Public Prosecutor 69. The citizens also
complained of the ministries of defense, social affairs, territorial
governance and other government agencies. Most complainers are from
Yerevan, 297, the fewest complaints are from the region of Vayots Dzor.
