'ELECTION' GAMES OF ARMENIAN SEPARATISTS ARE GROUNDLESS EFFORTS: PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATION'S ENVOY

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / No-one except Armenian
separatists themselves believe and attach importance to the efforts
to establish a 'state' in occupied Azerbaijani territories, said
the Sector Chief of the Social-Political Department of the Executive
Apparat of Azerbaijan President, Fuad Akhundov, said on 19 July.
Expressing his attitude towards the efforts of the Armenian separatists
to on 19 July hold so-called 'presidential elections' in Azerbaijan's
occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region, Akhundov said that as always,
any illegal efforts of separatists will not be recognized by the
international community.
"The OSCE Minsk Group co-chair-member countries ( Russia, USA and
France) also do not recognize this falsification. The Russian TV
channels also report that the 'elections' will not be recognized
by the third country, especially by Russia. The comments state that
it is unclear what Armenia wants to demonstrate with it, it is only
waste time spending," Akhundov said. He stressed that the efforts of
the separatists are recognized by neither OSCE Minsk Group nor other
States and international organizations.
"Armenia sees that it has remained without attention. No-one except
separatists themselves believes in so-called 'state'. Even Armenia
does not recognize it. The 'election' games are groundless efforts,"
Akhundov said.
The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasus appeared in
1988 due to the territorial claims of Armenia against Azerbaijan.
Armenia has occupied 20% of the Azerbaijani lands including
Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven Districts of the country surrounding
it. Since 1992 to the present time, these territories have been
under the occupation of the Armenian Forces. In 1994, Azerbaijan
and Armenia signed a cease-fire agreement at which time the active
hostilities ended. The Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia,
France and USA) hold peaceful negotiations.
