NUMBER OF THOSE WHO APPLY TO STATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS FROM REGIONS OF REPUBLIC HAS INCREASED

YEREVAN, JULY 19, NOYAN TAPAN. Certain changes were made in the order
of holding entrance examinations in Higher Education Institutions on
account of the final and HE Institutional joint examination in the
"Armenian language and Literature" subject: in comparison with previous
years, the examinations will finish earlier, that is, until August 10,
in addition to this there is an increase in the number of entrants
from the regions of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the statement made by Levon Mkrtchian, the RA Minister of
Education and Science and the Chairman of the Republican Admission
Commission, the upper threshold for being admitted to a Higher
Education Instituiton in order to get a number of professions,
in particular, has decreased on account of the unprecedented large
number of middle marks in the examination of the Armenian language,
which was held earlier this year.

At the same time, this circumstance has created an opportunity to
apply to a Higher Education Institution for those school-leavers of the
regions, who received high "middle" marks. "Thus, in the case of 15,
16, 17 middle marks, a wider public strata can be included also in
those faculties, which are considered "prestigious" in our society,"
    the Minister stressed.

This year the process of all the examinations will be shot and be seen
by the monitors, which will be placed outside, and oral examinations
will also be provided with sound broadcasting.

The whole process of the entrance organization is envisaged to finish
    by August 20.
