    PRESS TV, Iran
    July 20 2007

Mottaki aims at boosting ties with Armenia In his visit to Armenia
Iran's foreign minister met with Armenia's premier to discuss the
expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to Iran's role in regional developments, the Armenian
prime minister, Serge Sarkisian said, "Given the conditions Iraq is
currently grappling with, it is imperative for Iran to be actively
    involved in the region's developments."

Sarkisian also took time to point to the importance of expanding
cooperation between both countries, adding that Iran and Armenia
should strive toward simultaneous enhancement of ties in political
    and economic areas.

In reference to the achievements of the Joint Commission on
Iran-Armenia Economic Cooperation, Mottaki remarked that the two
peoples will see the impact of bilateral cooperation once the agreed
    projects are brought on stream.

Pointing to the fact that Iran's annual trade turnover with friendly
countries had exceeded 100 billion dollars, Mottaki added that the
minimum starting point was one billion dollars with each friendly
country, with steady growth always in the pipeline.

Iran is within its rights to have access to peaceful nuclear
technology, the Armenian prime minister, Serge Sarkisian, said in
his meeting with the Iranian foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki
    on Friday.

Mottaki is scheduled to have a meeting later with the Armenian
    president, Robert Kucharian.
