It's a pledge of success in the coming parliamentary elections
in Turkey
According to the Gallup poll of Seljuk University in Konya Erdoghan's
Justice and Development party's popularity increases in Turkey. The
Gallup poll was conducted in 40 states of Turkey, among 10.951 people.
As the presidential elections of Turkey are to hold on June 22 together
with the premature parliamentary elections, the Gallup poll contains
statistics of both of them.
According to "Vatan" daily 70 % of questioned agreed to elect the
president by popular vote, 22,5 % found appropriate for "Mejlis"
to elect the President, and 6,8 % were not oriented.
36.8 % of questioned gave preference to Erdoghan's Justice and
Development party (AKP), 21 % - to the Republican People's party
(CHP), 10,1 % to the alliance of Democrat Party formerly the True
Path Party and Motherland Party (ANAVATAN)" and 10,1% to Nationalist
Movement Party (MHP).
Abdullah Gul's nomination as candidate for the presidency and
as a result of it the crisis in Turkey contribute to Justice and
Development party's increasing popularity and recruitment of new
members, i.e. on May 30 ten popular political figures recruited to
the party, one of them was the former General Secretary of Republican
People's party. And the efforts of President Sezer to unite the
parties of the same ideological trend became in vain.
The elections in Turkey gained the former US Ambassador in Turkey
Morton Abramovich's attraction and he published his article titled
"The secular part of Turkey is divided up".
Though Abramovich warned about the results of the interference of
the army, which would end the process of the membership of Turkey to
European Union and would deepen the public polarization in Turkey,
he, anyhow, for the seculars considered preferable the army but not
Erdoghan's party. "Will the army let Justice and Development party
control the parliament and elect a president in Turkey?"
With this equivocal sentence Abramovich shows the attitudes of the
Jewish institutions of USA and "The New Conservatives" of Israel. The
Department of State also prefers Turkish army, as McCormack has
announced that the army of Turkey is the US ally.
Time will show if it is an invitation card to Turkish Army or not.
But Abramovich's concern about the probable victory of Erdoghan's
Justice and Development party confirm the probability of it.
