    CEC REGISTERS DEPUTIES OF NA OF FOURTH CONVOCATION ELECTED BY PROPORTIONAL SYSTEM

    YEREVAN, JUNE 6, NOYAN TAPAN. On June 7, at 10:00, the first session
    of National Assembly of fourth convocation elected as a result of the
    May 12 elections will open. Chairman of Central Electoral Commission
    Garegin Azarian stated at the CEC sitting held the day before.

    At the same sitting CEC registered 90 deputies elected by proportional
    system. Only Felix Khachatrian, representative of Ardarutiun
    (Justice) bloc, out of 9 CEC members refused to sign the protocol. At
    the beginning of the sitting he proposed withdrawing the issue of
    registration from the agenda taking into consideration the fact that
    examination of applications challenging the results of elections by
    proportional system is underway at the Constitutional Court.

    With the exception of OYP, applications on refusing to be registered
    as deputies were received from some candidates for deputy mandate
    of another 4 parties included in electoral rolls. 10 persons from
    Bargavach Hayastan Party, 1 from Zharangutiun, 13 from ARFD, 26 from
    RPA submitted such applications. They are mainly representatives of
    power, local self-government and territorial bodies.

    On June 6, from 18:30 to 21:00 RA CEC will give mandates to the newly
    elected deputies. 40 MPs elected by majoritarian system will also
    receive mandates. CEC had registered them as early as at the May
    19 sitting, with the exception of Khachik Manukian who submitted to
    CEC an application on refusing deputy mandate on June 6 without any
    motivation. Additional elections will be fixed in the above mentioned
    electoral district soon.
