TIGRAN TOROSIAN ELECTED NEW ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKER

    Azeri Press Agency, Azerbaijan
    June 7 2007

Member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Tigran Torosyan has
been elected as the Speaker of the 4th convocation National Assembly
of Armenia. In the result of the secret vote held on Thursday in the
parliament 112 deputies voted for and 2 MPs voted against Torosyan's
candidacy with no abstainers, APA reports.

Armenian President Robert Kocharian signed an order on resigning the
government. Armenian President ordered the members of the resigned
government to continue to perform their duties till formation of the
new government. Ten days following that resignation the new Prime
Minister is being appointed, and during the following 20 days the
premier must form the future cabinet.

Serzh Sargsyan is the most probable candidate for Prime Minister's
post. The government will be formed from the members of majority
parliament party. Yesterday Republican Party of Armenia and party
"Prosperous Armenia" signed coalition agreement. The agreement includes
article presupposing cooperation with "Dashnaksutyun" party.
