OFFICIAL ANKARA COUNTERACTS TO RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY SENATE OF CHILE

SANTIAGO, JUNE 8, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. The Foreign Ministry
of Turkey expressed its deep disappointment in connection with the
resolution on the Armenian Genocide adopted by the Senate of Chile
on June 5.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the resolution adopted
by the Senate saying that it contradicts the historical truth: "We
consider the resolution adopted by the Senate of Chile as a step
casting shadow on the friendly relations between the two states",
the statement read.
It should be mentioned that by the resolution adopted on June 5 the
Senate of Chile called on the government of the country to support
the Armenian people and to comdemn the genocide committed towards it.
