NEW SPECIALITIES - SOCIAL PEDAGOGIC, EXPERT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION - TO BE INTRODUCED IN ARMENIA IN 2007

YEREVAN, June 14. /ARKA/. New specialities - social pedagogic and
expert of special (correction) education - are to be introduced in
Armenia in 2007, Armenian Deputy Minister of Science and Education
Ara Avetisian told journalists.
He attached importance to the preparation of experts of correction
(special) education to work with the children with special needs. As
to the principles of social pedagogic, all employees of territorial
management bodies engaged in the sphere of education should be familiar
with them, Avetisian said.
According to him, new specialists will be introduced first of all in
the regional higher schools of Giumry, Vanadzro and Gavar.
"Secondary education reforms are implemented in Armenia, and they
are impossible without changing the pedagogic education system. In
this respect, it becomes necessary to prepare required literature,
laboratories and specialists to introduce a new standard of pedagogic
higher schools meaning the preparation of first-class teachers,"
Avetisian said.
He also pointed out the necessity to deliver mandatory training of
teachers in pedagogic higher schools to ensure the secondary school -
higher school connection.
The higher schools have been bringing their curricula into a united
field to ensure equal level of education and exchange of lecturers.
65,000 students study in the state higher schools of Armenia. The
country has also 72 non-state higher schools with more than 25,000
students studying in them.
