YEREVAN, MAY 4, NOYAN TAPAN. The order of taking exams for getting a
driving licence and of giving a driving licence as well as the list
of documents necessary for getting a driving licence were affirmed
at the May 3 sitting of the RA Government. It was defined that the
decision will come into force starting from June 1, 2007.
As Ararat Mahtesian, the First Deputy of the RA Police Chief
stated after the sitting, according to the project, for getting a
driving licence, all the people must undergo compulsory courses at
corresponding educational institutions which must be given licences
by the RA Ministry of Education and Science.
And for getting a licence it is necessary to have a corresponding
territory, computers, furniture, etc. In A. Mahtesian's words, those
institutions will be controlled from now on by the traffic police. If
more than 70% of ones studying at the given institution are not able
to pass the exam, it may become a basis for the ministry for taking
back the licence of the institution.
A. Mahtesian mentioned that the testing exam will be held only with
the help of computers. In his words, according to the project, a person
above 18, instead of 16 defined before, may get a driving licence. If
one had to take a new exam in the case of losing the driving licence,
there will be no need of taking a new exam from now on.
By the way, one must have a driving licence of A category for driving
a snowmobile.
