/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "Regular parliamentarian elections to the National
Assembly were held in Armenia on May 12. According to preliminary
results parties, which keep the political line of authorities, gathered
majority. They are the Republican Party of Armenia, "Prosperous
Armenia" Party and Armenian Revolutionary Federation "Dashnaktsutyun","
says the statement of the Russian MFA. "Parliamentarian elections
were organized on the base of the new Electoral Code of Armenia,
which uses the progressive electoral practice that has been approved
in European countries. The voting passed in a stable environment
with active participation of citizens. More than 13 000 local and
about 700 foreign observers carried out monitoring of elections. A
large number of Russian observers within the CIS and international
observation missions participated in the monitoring process. It is
worth mentioning that this time evaluations of international observers,
including those of CIS, OSCE and the European Parliament coincided
in many respects. They all underline preparation and conduction of
elections were transparent and basically met democratic standards. They
also state progressive changes, which took place in the political
system of Armenia during recent years.

Moscow seriously hopes for deepening of multi-sided and mutually
beneficial relations in allied partnership with Yerevan, as an impulse
to which can serve the agreements reached during recent meetings
between the presidents of both countries," the statement of the
Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry says, the RF MFA Press Office reports.
