ARMENIAN WOMEN MEET HIS HOLINESS ARAM I

His Holiness Aram I received on May 15 the women who participate in the
weekly Tuesday prayer meetings in Antelias.

Praising the initiative organized by the Christian Education Department of
Catholicosate of Cilicia, His Holiness said the meetings were spectacular
opportunities to escape the overload of routine life and become closer to
God. He spoke about those challenges that can potentially mislead believers
away from the Church and their nation.

"Christianity became our skin color. We live through out culture and
despite living in a multicultural society, we should follow Christianity
through the teachings of our Church," he said. The Pontiff then spoke about
the interpretation of Christianity by various cultures and nations, the
confusion created by cults and religious fundamentalism for which the youth
usually become a victim not knowing their roots.

The Catholicos then clearly explained the church path drawn by Jesus
Christ for humankind through the apostles, their successors and the church's
saints. "From all the misleading paths of life, let's walk on the true path
of our church. Life opens up different routes for us to take. We sometimes
get lost at the crossroads of these paths and can't decide which one to
follow. Sometimes people along the way give us false directions and we walk
down their oath. Sometimes we get confused. But we have the true path to
follow- the oath of our Church," he said.

The Director of the Christian Education Department, Rev. Fr. Torkom
Donoyan expressed gratitude to His Holiness Aram I on behalf of the 150
Armenian women. The participants then performed several hymns with the
    guidance of Father Torkom.
