    SUNGLASSES SPOIL SIGHT

    A1+

It is already two years Mary hasn't gone out at twilight. This is
not accounted for her fear from darkness.

A few years ago she bought dark sunglasses. Instead of protecting
her eyes from the sun, the glasses merely spoil her sight and hurt
    the pupils.

The main function of sunglasses is to protect people from the
sun's ultraviolet rays but frequently sunglasses have side-effects,
"ArmOptics" Company Director Arsah Halerian said.

He assures that without special equipment nobody is capable of deciding
    the harmfulness of sunglasses.

"The pupil of the eye widens if one wears dark glasses. Besides,
ultraviolet rays penetrate into the eye harming its retina," Arsah
    Halerian told A1+.

"High quality glasses are already on sale, but few can afford them
nowadays as only the glass costs 10-15 thousand drams," he says.

According to the ArmOptics' head even expensive glasses do not
ensure full protection of eyes. The society still lacks the culture
    of verifying glasses' certification.

To note, all glasses have certifications specifying their index
    of harmfulness.

Sunglasses are obligatory especially in winter when the sun's
ultraviolet rays double, Arsah Halerian says.

Vahan Gabrielian, a doctor of Gapex Ocular Clinic, states that the
wrong choice of sunglasses might lead to serious side-effects and
    spoil a person's sight.

"I advise our residents to choose glasses very carefully otherwise
they will have to wear spectacles till the end of their lives."
