VARDAN MALKHSIAN NOT TO BE SUBMITTED FOR CONDITIONAL PAROLE

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6, NOYAN TAPAN. The administrative commission of
the "Vardashen" penitentiary office has passed a resolution on not
submitting the question of the conditional parole of Vardan Malkhasian,
a member of the political board of the Homeland and Honor party,
to the consideration of the interdepartmental commission. According
to the information provided to a Noyan Tapan correspondent by Mushegh
Shushanian, the lawyer of Vardan Malkhasian, on November 5, according
to the commission of the penitentiary office, this decision is reasoned
by the fact that the person of Vardan Malkhasian "is not sufficiently
studied." It should be mentioned that Vardan Malkhasian was recognized
guilty of making calls for seizing the state power by acts of violence.
The above-mentioned commission has not at all discussed the question
of the conditional parole of Jirayr Sefilian, the coordinator of
the civil initiative "In defense of Liberated Territories", who was
recognized guilty of keeping illegal weapon, for the purpose of the
penalty incurred upon him in the penitentiary office. The penalty
will be paid off six months later.
