ARMENIA CONSIDERING PROSPECTS OF CONDUCTING CENTRALIZED EXAMS ON RUSSIAN STANDARDS

    ARKA
    Nov 9, 2007

YEREVAN, November 9. /ARKA/. Armenia is now considering prospects of
conducting centralized exams on Russian standards. Viktor Bolotov,
head of Russian federal agency for supervising education and science
sectors, told journalists on Thursday in Yerevan that this is a
forward-looking idea worth to be considered.

"This year Armenian citizens wanting to enrol in Russian universities
will be able to pass Russian language exam in Yerevan", he said adding
that all the member countries of Commonwealth of Independent States
having Russian communities are now thinking over the matter.

Bolotov also said that it would be absolutely natural to organize a
centralize exam on Armenian language in Moscow for university entrants
    from Armenian community in Russia.

"We decided to think over the matter, because there are also
    organizational problems", he said.

On June 1, 2007, a centralized exam on Armenian language and
literature was conducted in 1442 examination centers in Armenia and
    Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

Over 50,000 people took part in it.

Mathematics and four foreign languages will be added to the exam on
Armenian language and literature in 2007/2008 academic year.
