PRESIDENT KOCHARYAN RECEIVED THE PRESIDENT OF EURASIA FOUNDATION

President Robert Kocharyan received the President of the Eurasia
Foundation Horton Bibi-Senter, President of the Eurasia Partnership
Foundation George Zarubin and Eurasia Partnership Foundation
Representative in Armenia Gevorg Ter-Abrahamyan.
The President of the Eurasia Foundation informed Mr. Kocharyan about
the launch of the Eurasia Partnership Foundation activity in Armenia,
which is considered to be the successor of the Eurasia Foundation.
Noting that ever since 1995 the activity of the Eurasia Foundation
in Armenia has been directed at the development of civil society,
local self-government, communities, small and medium businesses, the
President of the Foundation said the new Office will continue the work,
attaching greater importance to the development of local capacities
and ensuring the elaboration and accomplishment of a greater number
of investment programs on the local level.
Robert Kocharyan welcomed the objectives of the Foundation and
expressed willingness to cooperate.
The interlocutors spoke about the democratic processes in Armenia,
Noting that democracy envisages consistent and patient work and
formation of political culture, RA President said the political,
economic and local self-governance reforms in the country are called
to reinforce the fundamental bases of democracy.
