ARMENIAN NPP CONNECTED TO NATIONAL ENERGY GRID AFTER REPAIRS

The Armenian nuclear power plant was connected to the national energy
grid on Saturday after planned repairs and refueling that started on
October 10, a source at the Armenian Energy Ministry told Interfax.
The power plant's safety has been upgraded. The fresh fuel will keep
it running for another year.
The power plant administration paid for the repairs itself, the
source said.
Major repairs of the power plant are scheduled for 2008. They will
last for 85 days.
The Armenian NPP yearly produces about 2.5 billion kilowatt/hours
of electricity, which amounts to 40-45% of the overall electricity
produce in the country.
