RA FM: NAGORNO-KARABAKH PEOPLE WANT RIGHT TO LIVE IN PEACE AND SAFETY

    DeFacto Agency, Armenia
    Oct 4 2007

Nagorno-Karabakh people don't strive for what does not belong to them -
they want the right to live in peace and safety and to determine their
future. They want to exercise the right any people presented here have
exercised at some stage of their history, RA FM Vardan Oskanian stated
    delivering a speech at the U. N. General Assembly's 62nd sitting.

According to the information DE FACTO received at RA MFA Press
Office, touching upon placing the issue referring to frozen
conflicts on the post Soviet territory on the sitting's agenda,
Vardan Oskanian had noted any resolution adopted on the subject would
have shortcomings: " Any resolution, which places all conflicts
in one place, will primordially have some faults. Each of these
conflicts is different". RA FM said Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
should not be discussed at the U. N., since the settlement process
is being considered at the OSCE. According to Vardan Oskanian, the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not frozen. Besides, the talks are being
conducted, and the parties are approaching towards a resolution. In
RA FM's words, "there is a developed document on the negotiating
table, based not on imagination, but on basic issues and their
consequences". He voiced confidence that the document would enable
the parties to render a balanced decision. Armenian Minister also
    underscored that Nagorno-Karabakh people's right to self-determination
was in the basis of the talks.
