    COOPERATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT BODIES OF CIS COUNTRIES HELPS FINDING MORE EFFICIENT WAYS OF CRIME CONTROL

    YEREVAN, October 9. /ARKA/. The ties between the law enforcement
    bodies of the former Soviet countries are maintained today and help
    finding new and more efficient forms and means of cooperation in crime
    control, Armenia's Prime-Minister Serge Sargsian said in receiving the
    participants of the sitting of the Coordination Council of Commonwealth
    of Independent States (CIS) held in Yerevan today.

    The Press Service of the Government reported that the Prime-Minister
    welcomed the participants and congratulated Yury Chayka on his
    reelection to the post of the Chairman of the Council. Sargsian also
    expressed confidence that the Council's decisions will facilitate the
    further strengthening of the ties and expansion of the cooperation
    between the law-enforcement structures of CIS countries.

    The Prosecutor General of the Russian federation Yury Chayka
    congratulated the Armenian side for the reception and reported
    productive discussion of issues of importance for further improvement
    of activities of CIS countries' prosecutors general. Chayka said that
    new ideas on the Council's activities were brought up at the sitting
    of the Council.

    The sides attached importance to meetings for exchange of experience
    in implementation of reforms within the law enforcements system.

    The Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of CIS was founded in
    1995. The organization received a status of an interstate structure
    ion January 25 2000.
