    "PRESSURE BEGAN"

    A1+
    [08:44 pm] 18 October, 2007

"Authorities spare no effort to fail October 26 gathering", ensured
Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, former NA deputy and former deputy head of the
National Security Service in an interview with "A1+".

"Authorities are seriously concerned with this and I am aware of inner
talks: they are going to disappoint Levon Ter-Petrosyan, that is to
say they will do their best to see the Liberty Square empty, but they
will not manage to do that,- he said, adding,- Levon Ter-Petrosyan
will become the center of opposition powers and will put an end to
    this awful situation".

To our question that various opposition leaders have announced about
their intentions to nominate their candidates, which means that a
united candidate is not possible, he said:

"About 3-4 people will do what Serge Sargsyan says, some will announce
that they support the clan, to create the image that a number of
powers support the authorities. It is clear, some people will play
the role of a bomb to explode the opposition from inside, and their
face will be known some times later. We will see who is who gradually".

Gurgen Yeghiazaryan separated "National Democratic Party" leader
Vazgen Manukyan from bombs and false opposition leaders: "Vazgen
Manukyan is the true son of his nation. All that I say do not refer
to him. I suppose that we will be in a team sooner or later".

We reminded Gurgen Yeghiazaryan that he was a confirmed opposition
some years ago and asked why he decided to change his approach and
    considered himself in Ter-Petrosyan's team.

"Yes, I supported Robert Kocharyan, since after the incidents on 27
October he appeared in a very bad situation. I did not support him when
he was on the horse; I simply protected a thesis, so that no revolution
took place at night to find out what happened on 27 October. About 400
armed people came to the NA, those who saw their commander shot and
wanted to revenge. It could be concealed and no witnesses would remain
after 27 October incidents. We were obliged to protect the authorities,
to see what would happen next and the authorities were not on the
horse then, not even on the ground. When Kocharyan was on the horse,
I said no one could support him", explained Gurgen Yeghiazaryan.

To our question whether he regretted for protecting Kocharyan then,
Mr Yeghiazaryan said: "Not, at all.

Armenia could not lead the right path with a gun.

Serious skirmish would take place causing deaths of not 8, but 80
people, and it would be easier to carry out a revolution. Who would
come to power, how he would come? God knows only".
