POLLSTER CLAIMS ARMENIANS FEAR OF RADICAL CHANGES

    ARMENPRESS
    Oct 24, 2007

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 24, ARMENPRESS: Head of a pollster center, Aharon
Adibekian, claimed today that 'people in Armenia are afraid of a
radical change of the country's political course and of sweeping
    personnel changes."

Aharon Adibekian, head of Sociometer Center, told a news conference
that 'ahead of the next year's presidential election the Armenian
society is experiencing a feeling of fear."

To substantiate Adibekian said that part of Armenians fear that if
ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosian comes to power again they would
experience the hardships they had to go through in the first years
    of the country's independence.

Adibekian said also Armenia's neighbors are also interested in the
forthcoming election. According to him, media in Azerbaijan is watching
closely all related developments in Armenia through the perspective
of the chances for solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

He said Georgia's prime minister Zurab Nogaideli arrived recently in
Armenia for a meeting with prime minister having in mind that Serzh
Sarkisian is the hopeful with the biggest chances to become next
    president of Georgia's southern neighbor.

Adibekian declined to speak about potential candidates' popularity
rating saying it was still early to do it 'because there will be
changes that may alter completely the overall situation.' At the end
of his news conference he said he has made his choice for continuity
    of the government course.

"Armenia's next president must master all economic leverages and know
    about military issues," he concluded.
