ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVES DRAFT PROGRAM OF REHABILITATION OF SEVAN ECOSYSTEM FOR 2008

YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. The RA Government has approved a draft
program of rehabilitation and preservation of the ecosystem of
Lake Sevan for 2008. The press and public relations department,
RA Government, reports that the draft has been elaborated in
conformity with the Laws "On Lake Sevan" and "On approval of annual
and comprehensive programs of rehabilitation, preserrvation and
reprodution of the ecosystem of Lake Sevan". The program is aimed at
the preservation of the ecosystem of Lake Sevan, restoration of the
ecological balance and harmonious development of natural biodiversity,
as well as the implementation of measures aimed at rational use
of bioresources in 2008. Lake Sevan is located in the north-east
of Armenia. In 2005, the water level in the lake rose by 41 cm and
reached 1,898.07 meters against 1,897.66 cm in 2004. I 2006, the level
rose by 20 cm more. In 2007, it reached 1,898.96 meters.
