ARMENIA IS NOT PRONE TO ORANGE REVOLUTION

"It is already a fact that the first president of Armenia Levon
Ter-Petrosyan has returned to politics. Neither I nor the Karabakh
people are supposed to evaluate the return of Levon Ter-Petrosyan or
the home political developments in Armenia. Although, considering the
level of our relations and economic, political, spiritual, cultural
integrity, it is obvious that in Nagorno-Karabakh nobody can remain
indifferent to what is underway in Armenia," said the chair of the
NKR National Assembly Committee of Foreign Affairs Vahram Atanesyan
    in an interview with Karabakh-Open.com.

In commenting on the recent events in Armenia, he said the time of
Levon Ter-Petrosyan is far behind in the past. "Let this not sound
as an insult for the first president of Armenia, but all he can do
for his people he did in 1994-1998. It was the onset of the process
of gaining independence which was de facto and legally set down in a
referendum, it was success in the war in Karabakh and the adoption
of the first Constitution in 1995. As to the attitude of voters to
Levon Ter-Petrosyan and his political program, it is already up to
2 million Armenian voters," the NKR parliament member said.

As to rumors on a likely orange revolution in Armenia, Vahram Atanesyan
says: "As far as I know, this idea is exaggerated in the Azerbaijani
media which refer to certain U.S. diplomatic sources. I see nothing
serious there, on the contrary, I think it is clear provocation. In
fact, being interested in the return of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the
Azerbaijani political activists are now using a different political
technology, allegedly caring for political stability in Armenia and
wishing to have Serge Sargsyan be the president of Armenia. I think
it is cheap PR with the help of which Baku is trying to complicate
the situation in Armenia. There are no preconditions for a revolution
    in Armenia."

The representative of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Artsakh Jirair Shahijanyan
rules out an orange revolution in Armenia, "since there is no strong
opposition and weak government." "The mentality of our people is
such that our people will not pick up a flag and head for the West
or the East out of a dream. Therefore, I don't think a revolution is
    realistic," Jirair Shahijanyan said.

With regard to Levon Ter-Petrosyan's return, he said Dashnaktsutyun is
going to put up a candidate, and their ideologies are likely to clash.

"I think the internal political struggle in Armenia where every party
and individual are trying to find a place, will not move toward
radicalism which would be harmful for the country and the entire
    Armenian nation," he said.
