"ISSUE ON ELECTION OF PRESIDENT OF COUNTRY NOT DECIDED BY RALLIES," GALUST SAHAKIAN BELIEVES

    Noyan Tapan
    Oct 30, 2007

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The rally held on October 26 with
the participation of Levon Ter-Petrosian, the first President of the
Republic of Armenia, reminded of the years, when the Armenian National
Movement had authority, which were forgotten due to the recent active
work of the Republican Party of Armenia. This conviction was expressed
by Galust Sahakian, the Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of
Armenia, at the press conference held on October 30. According to him,
irrespective of the fact that first President Levon Ter-Petrosian
addressed political charges to the current authorities during his
speech, they: the members of the Republican Party, are not going to
oppose them with their own charges.

Mentioning that the Republican Party of Armenia is, in principle,
against the tactics of scolding in a political struggle, Galust
Sahakian said that he considers inadmissable the phenomenon, when a
political figure, Levon Ter-Petrosian, in particular, criticizes and
accuses his opponent in the absence of the latter.

In the estimation of Galust Sahakian, issues, such as, for example,
the issue of the election of the President of the country, are not
solved by rallies. Moreover, according to the calculation of the
Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, approximately 12
thousand people took part in the above-mentioned rally. This, in the
words of Galust Sahakian, speaks about the fact that "the ship had
hardly entered the sea, when it started to wreck."
