MCA-Armenia SNCO and the Stakeholders' Committee (SC) held today a
public meeting comprising NGOs and other representatives of civil
society, where the new draft of the SC elections procedure was
discussed and approved and the Election Committee was elected.

The draft of the elections procedure was prepared by the working
group formed by the SC from its members. The elections procedure
draft was made available for wide consultation and the SC was open
to suggestions from the public on modifications.

MCA-Armenia Stakeholders' Committee's mandate in its current
composition expires on the 29th of September 2007, a year from the day
when the MCA-Armenia Compact officially came into force. In accordance
with the MCA-Armenia Governance Agreement, new elections will be held
and 11 out of the 15 current members of the SC will vacate their seats.

The current composition of the Stakeholder Committee was elected on
May 6th, 2006 by paper ballots voting with participation of about 200
interested NGOs. The Committee has 15 members who represent the key
stakeholder groups of the program. SC is a body through which the
civil society and community representatives have an opportunity to
get information about the MCA-Armenia program, its implementation,
participate in selection and bids evaluation panels called by the
MCA-Armenia SNCO, as well as to get and disseminate program related
materials. They also discuss important issues related to the program
and provide their comments and proposals. As a consultative body,
the Stakeholder Committee delegates five of its members to the
MCA-Armenia Governing Council to become fully and directly involved
in the governance and decision-making of the program.
