    ARMENIAN MONTH IN WASHINGTON

    On September 5 the month of Armenian art devoted to the 16th
    anniversary of the independence of Armenia was opened at the head
    office of the World Bank held by the Armenian embassy to the United
    States and the WB's art program, the press service of the Armenian
    foreign ministry reported.

    Over 40 sculptures and paintings by 16 modern Armenian artists are
    displayed at the head office of the World Bank. On the day of the
    opening a concert of Armenian medieval music was performed at the
    music hall of the World Bank.

    The Armenian ambassador to the United States Tatul Margaryan and
    Marina Galvani, director of the WB's art program, addressed the
    opening ceremony. Over 200 guests were present at the ceremony and
    the concert, including high-ranking officials of the U.S. Department
    of State and the World Bank, the staff of the WB, Armenian Apostolic
    Church priests in the United States, as well as representatives of
    the Armenian community of the United States.
