Is Levon Ter Petrosyan being pushed by his followers?
`If Levon Ter Petrosyan goes forward with plans to run for president,
it will be very difficult for him if he then backs out, as his
followers will say, `Dear brother, why are you backing out?'' People's
Party president Tigran Karapetyan said today while talking about what
might happen if Ter Petrosyan offers his candidacy. Karapetyan says
that the first president's followers hope to promote themselves
through a Ter Petrosyan candidacy, and that they consider that in the
case of his candidacy, certain arrangements will have been made with
outside political forces.
`Levon Ter Petrosyan is a smart man, and if he puts forth his
candidacy, there is a reason for doing it,' Karapetyan said, adding
that smart people always say something challenging when they address
people, to see what reaction they receive, and this is exactly what
Ter Petrosyan did recently. Karapetyan then said that if Ter Petrosyan
becomes a candidate, the election will be settled in the first round,
with Serge Sargsyan becoming president.
