The 18th Amber Blindfold and Rapid tournament is drawing to an
end. After the first nine rounds the fixture list is topped by three
chess players at a time: Vishwanatan Anand, Levon Aronian and Magnus
Carlsen. They have all gained 11.5 points.

In a mini-match between Alexander Morozevich and Levon Aronian two
players were pitted against each other that put great emphasis on
creativity. Chances were about equal and remained that way after
Aronian had given his queen for a rook, a knight and active play. The
game ended in a draw (1.5:0.5) when Aronian erected an impenetrable
fortress. In the rapid game, Aronian's creativity triumphed and beat
    Morozevich.

Magnus Carlsen won his blindfold game against Wang Yue
1.5:0.5. Vishwanatan Anand played a 1:1 tie with Vesselin Topalov
allowing both Levon Aronian and Magnus Carlsen to draw level with the
World Champion in the combined standings.

In the next penultimate round Levon Aronian is to comete with the
outsider Wang Yue, Anand with Morozevich and Carlsen with Kramnik.
