The Armenian-Austrian Music Festival 'Vienna welcomes Yerevan"
patronized by Dr. Michael Häupl, Mayor and Governor of Vienna,
will be held in Armenian capital city from October 27 to November 1.
Today members of festival's management, Anna Maria Famer, Jean
Sargsyan, and Gottlieb Wallish, met with journalists alongside with
Armenian-side festival's organizations, the pianist Armen Babakhanian,
maestro Tigran Mansuryan, and opera singer Gayane Geghamyan.
It's the second visit of the pianist Gottlieb Wallish to Armenia
while soprano Anna-Maria Famer is visiting Armenia for the first time.
"The chief objective of the festival is to create a bridge between
Yerevan and Vienna," said Anna-Maria Famer adding that she will
perform Tigran Mansuryan. She said it was a great honor to perform
Tigran Mansuryan and added that to sing in Armenian is a bit difficult.
Speaking about festival's background, the pianist Armen Babakhanian
said that the Festival is an exclusive event: it is a gift Austria
makes for Armenia.
The festival will perform Armenian and Austrian musicians; its
repertoire involves world-famous works as well as those of modern
composers. The Armenian-Austrian Music Festival will hold five concerts
at the House of Chamber Music aft. Komitas.
