    PRELATE WELCOMES EPARCH OF
THE ARMENIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF NORTH AMERICA

On Wednesday, December 21, 2011, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh
Mardirossian, Prelate, welcomed to the Prelacy His Excellency Bishop Mikael
Mouradian, the newly named Eparch of the Armenian Catholic Church for the
USA and Canada. His Excellency was accompanied by Rector of St. Gregory
Catholic Church Very Rev. Fr. Krikor Chahinian, Principal of Mekhitarian
School Very Rev. Fr. Tavit Ghazarian, and Ladies Auxiliary Chair Mrs.
Marijan Harmandayan. Joining the Prelate were Religious Council Chair Very
Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, Crescenta Valley Church Pastor Rev. Fr. Ghevont
Kirazian, and Executive Council Chair Mrs. Rima Boghossian.
Bishop Mouradian was installed as Eparch nearly two months ago,
following the retirement of Bishop Manuel Batakian. This was the first
official visit of Bishop Mouradian to Los Angeles following his installation
as Eparch. On Saturday, December 17th, a welcoming reception and
"Hrashapar" service was held in his honor at St. Gregory Catholic Church in
Glendale, which the Prelate participated in.
The visit began at the "Sulahian" Reception Hall. The Prelate first
congratulated Bishop Mouradian on his appointment, then gave an overview of
the endeavors of the Prelacy. A discussion was held on collaboration
between denominations, and issues of general concern to the Armenian
community. Bishop Mouradian also gave an overview of the endeavors and
mission of the Eparchy, from Canada to California.
The guests were then escorted to the "St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen"
Chapel for a joint prayer. Bishop Mouradian and guests were then
familiarized with the departments of the Prelacy, after which they were
hosted to lunch by the Prelate.
The visit concluded with an exchange of mementos.

PRELATE ATTENDS EVENT IN SUPPORT OF THE
    USC SHOAH FOUNDATION

On the evening of Tuesday, December 20, more than 70 community
leaders and members gathered by the invitation of Mr. Charles Ghailian,
Chair of the USC Institute of Armenian Studies, in support of a joint
collaboration between the USC Institute of Armenian Studies, Shoah
Foundation, and the Armenian Film Foundation.
The Prelate attended and delivered the evening's prayer.
In April 2010, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute signed a historic
agreement with the late Dr. J. Michael Hagopian, founder of the Armenian
Film Foundation. The agreement paved the way for the preservation and
dissemination of the largest archive of filmed interviews with survivors of
and witnesses to the Armenian Genocide.
Nearly 400 interviews and testimonies of Armenian Genocide survivors
and witnesses will be included in the Shoah Foundation's digital archives,
allowing individuals from across the world access to this information.
