SARGSYAN DISAGREED WITH TSARUKYAN

During the ceremony organized by the National Olympic Committee to
honor the sportsmen, Serzh Sargsyan disagreed with the thought of
Gagik Tsarukyan that the sportive year of 2011 was a year of pending.
It seems clear why Tsarukyan described the year so. The point is that
Armenia did not have achievements in its traditional sports - boxing,
wrestling, weightlifting - this year. The reasons are different,
objective and subjective but the fact is that Armenia did not have
significant achievements.
Only football and chess were significant, which Serzh Sargsyan
stressed, saying that the successful play of the Armenian national
football team was significant, and the chess team became world
champion.
However, the point is that both Serzh Sargsyan and Gagik Tsarukyan
are right. Football and chess are not Gagik Tsarukyan's profile.
In Armenia, everything like sports is divided between different
groups in power. Football is Ruben Hairapetyan's, while chess is
Serzh Sargsyan's. Gagik Tsarukyan's "profile" is sports involving one
sportsman and physical strength, where the year was a failure indeed,
therefore Tsarukyan described it as pending.
However, Serzh Sargsyan was right regarding his "profile", disagreeing
that it was a year of pending.
In other words, Sargsyan hinted that they advanced in their profiles
(Ruben Hairapetyan is one of the oligarchs from the entourage of the
president), while Tsarukyan marked time.
By the way, in terms of "sports profiles", it is worthwhile to remember
a case from the Armenian and Turkish football diplomacy.
After the game Turkey-Armenia which Serzh Sargsyan and Ruben
Hairapetyan attended, the reporters asked Gagik Tsarukyan why he
was not present in the game where the Armenian team played badly,
the leader of the BHP said he goes when he is sure of victory.
