    YEREVAN

Tbilisi City Court has ruled on the cases of eight persons detained by
the counter-intelligence department of the Ministry of Interior today
and sent them to custody under preliminary sentence for two months.

The eight persons, some of them the members of the Georgian Party
opposition movement, were charged with article N223 of the Criminal
Code of Georgia - formation of illegal armed unit.

The Ministry of Interior published the tapes of telephone conversations
of the detainees among one another and with the party's fugitive
leader Irakli Okruashvili recorded in May, when the opposition parties
were holding rallies in Tbilisi, and the video testimonies of the
defendants, who spoke about the plans of Okruashvili and his allies
in Georgia. According to the plan, Okruashvili planned to arrive
in Georgia from Vladikavkaz in May, where he met with his allies to
    agree their action plans.

Another leader of the Georgian Party, Erosi Kitsmarishvili told
journalists today that the tapes were fabricated.

In addition, the lawyers of the defendants plan to appeal the court
ruling. They presented motions on bailing out the defendants at the
trial today, but the judge rejected the motions and sent the defendants
    to custody for two months.
