French Socialist candidate to presidential elections Francois Hollande
said Turkey was not committed to democracy deserving membership in EU
family. According to him modern Turkey doesn't correspond to European
norms and standards.
"Equality in men and women, freedom of pres and expression, reforms
of judicial system, defence of rights of national minorities are not
guaranteed in Turkey. Ankara's persistent denial of Armenian Genocide
is unacceptable. Turkey is also highly recommended to settle its
Cypriot conflict," Turkish news agency İhlas quotes Mr. Hollande
as saying.
