PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: 75% OF ARMENIA'S MINING INDUSTRY IS SHADOW

75% of Armenia's mining industry is shadow, the sector reports a
turnover of 200 million AMD, whereas, judging from customs data, it
amounts to 800 million AMD, presidential candidate Hrant Bagratian
said at the meeting with journalists today.
When asked by the correspondent of Aysor.am what he would change in
the environmental policy of Armenia, he replied he would propose a
basic provision: not to sell natural resources, which is the case now.
Natural resources are the nation's wealth and they should not be sold.
"Some royalties - some laughable payments - have been introduced,"
Bagratian said, adding that his policy proposes a U-turn in this
sphere.
