REPRESENTATIVE OF ARFD DOES NOT RULE OUT CONSOLIDATION OF OPPOSITION PARTIES AFTER YEREVAN COUNCIL OF ELDERS ELECTION

    ARMINFO
    Tuesday, March 26, 14:25

The consolidation of the opposition parties is possible after the
Yerevan Council of Elders election, secretary of the ARFD parliamentary
faction, Agvan Vardanyan, said at today's press-conference.

"The fact of separate participation of political forces in the
election is positive, as it will make it possible to unite their
results after the election and make the majority in the council of
Elders. At present each party should work as much as it can so that
to gain the trust of a big number of voters", - Vardanyan said.

He also added that Yerevan replaced 3 mayors for the last 4 years.
This is evidence of the fact that actually mayors of the capital city
are not elected but appointed by the authorities, which get rid of the
unwanted persons and nominate those which are easy to manipulate with.
"Today, like never before, Yerevan needs the mayor which will be
able to adopt decisions independently. I think that the authorities
understand it very well, and we shall have changes. Just Yerevan will
start making changes in all over the republic. It is not accidental
that the slogan of ARFD at the forthcoming election is "Yerevan,
    change Armenia", - Vardanyan concluded.
