An Agriculture Ministry official on Friday unveiled plans for importing
52 tons of clover seeds to Armenia and selling them to villagers at
subsidized prices.

"The Ministry is from now on taking steps towards increasing the food
production and is going to import melilot and clover seeds to help
meet the animal food demand," Ashot Hovhannisyan, the head of the
Ministry's Animal Breeding and Veterinary Department, told reporters.

Commenting on earlier reports for selling the pastures of Syunik
region to Iran, he said the document authorizing the deal is just a
contract between two individuals, not an official agreement.

Hovhannisyan said the Ministry is interested in breeding sheep and
selling them to the Islamic Republic.

"We have a surplus of sheep but Iran and other countries wish to buy
a limited quantity," he added.
