EU TO GIVE ARMENIA 33 MLN EUROS IN 2011-2013 FOR EURO INTEGRATION REFORMS

    Russia

The European Union will provide Armenia with 33 million euros in
technical aid in 2011-2013 for the country to carry out institutional
reforms as part of European integration and the Eastern Partnership
initiative, Economics Minister Nerses Yeritsian said at a briefing
    on Thursday.

An agreement on the aid has already been reached. The details of the
reforms are currently being updated, he said.

John Kjaer, head of the EU general directorate for external
relations in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and the Southern Caucasus,
told journalists earlier that these funds will be spent on programs
in free trade, to simplify the visa regime, energy cooperation and
    the observance of democratic principles.

The Eastern Partnership initiative was approved at an EU summit in
Prague in May 2008. The EU's partners in the initiative are Armenia,
Georgia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. The initiative is
aimed at strengthening political and economic relations between the
    EU and these countries.
