EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT CONDEMNS MILITARY RHETORIC OF AZERBAIJANI AUTHORITIES

    ARMENPRESS
    JUNE 16, 2011
    YEREVAN

Threats of war were directly expressed many times in the recent months
by the president of Azerbaijan and the members of the Azerbaijani
    government.

Armenpress reports citing the official website of the European
Parliament that this was stated in the final article on the June 15
hearing on the NK issue at the European Parliament. The article cites
the recent statement by Ziyafet Askerov, chairman of Security and
Defense Committee of Azerbaijan's Parliament. He said June 14 that
"in case the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is not settled in a peaceful
way, and if Azerbaijan's hopes are nullified after the Kazan meeting,
Azerbaijan will retain the right to liberate its territories, which
    were occupied by military means".

The European Parliament reminds about the Bishkek Ceasefire Agreement,
as well as Azerbaijan's obligations, assumed by a number of bilateral
agreements and its commitments towards the OSCE, Council of Europe,
UN and EU. "Unfortunately, these institutes condemn such war threats
    seldom," the final article mentions.
