"Unfortunately, the press continues dirty campaign against our country
in connection with the Eurovision Song Contest. We know perfectly what
forces are behind this campaign," said Ilham Aliyev the President
of the Republic of Azerbaijan presiding over a Cabinet's meeting
to discuss results of the socio-economic development in the first
    quarter 2012, APA reports.

"There are countries where dirty defamatory articles about Azerbaijan
are published every week and even every day. Naturally, this policy is
coordinated. However, this policy does not and will not lead to the
results. Because there is no force that could be able to influence
our politics, and while I'm in this chair, there will not be. We go
our own way. We will go the way of our independence and our freedom! ".

The President noted that Azerbaijan complies with all the kinds of
freedom, "Those who want to accuse us for anti-democratic steps, let's
look at what is happening in their own countries. There, every day,
participants of protests are beaten, seriously injured and hundreds
of demonstrators are arrested. Some of the mass media that belong to
these countries smear campaign against Azerbaijan. " Further in his
speech the President did not scruple to say that there are democracy,
freedom of speech, freedom of conscience and assembly in Azerbaijan.

"We are confident going forward. Provocations against us will
continue. Information war against us will continue. We do not care. We
simply need to talk about it, take our own steps to ensure a happy
future for the Azerbaijani people," Aliyev said for conclusion.
