The Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), which is the Turkish parliament's
sole Kurdish political force, issued a statement Tuesday, in connection
with 97th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and noted that it
commemorates with profound respect the memory of the victims of the
    great tragedy.

"In 1915, the Armenian people bore great suffering, and they were
subjected to genocide by being forcibly deported from their lands.

Turkey has not yet confronted the historical tragedy, to cleanse the
public conscience, it has not faced up to its own history, and has
not apologized to the Armenian people.

These undisclosed dark events paved the way for new tragedies,"
    the BDP's statement specifically reads.

Also, the statement recalled the anti-Armenian protest, which was
held in Istanbul on February 26 and organized by the Turkish state,
and stressed how the entire world became an eyewitness to how the
country's Internal Affairs Minister made racist remarks during that
    demonstration.

In its statement, the Kurdish party called on Turkey's authorities
to apologize to the people of Anatolia and Mesopotamia, who have
    survived great pains.
