YEREVAN.- Armenia is not decisive in its official position on
protection of monuments in Azerbaijan, said historian Samvel
    Karapetyan.

According to him, the case with the Armenian khachkars (cross-stones)
of Old Jugha revealed Armenian side's distanced position on protection
of its own culture and history.

"Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian only mentioned it
once, instead of voicing this position in all agencies. We must
have struggled for the treasure we had lost. The whole world lost
Jugha's khachkars. Our pain is deeper, but in fact we are silent,"
    he emphasized.

The head of Research on Armenian Architecture NGO reminded of the
Armenian churches in Nakhchivan which are destroyed.

He said that liberation of territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh
saved Armenian churches, as under other circumstances they would have
    been destroyed.

He reminded that Cyprus government filed about 1,600 lawsuits against
Turkey for elimination of 1,600 Christian, including Armenian,
    buildings.
