Odnoklassniki social networking website available in Armenian
Yerevan, 22 June: From now on, Odnoklassniki social network is
available in the Armenian language.
Marketing and Strategic Communications Director of Social Networks
Mail.Ru Group business unit Aleksandr Izryadnov said this in Yerevan
during a press conference today, Mediamax reports.
He noted that Odnoklassniki site is the first in Armenia among social
networks, adding that the number of users has grown by 30 per cent
reaching about 787,000 people over the past year. About 272,000 people
use the site on the mobile phone. The main "nucleus" of the network is
people aged 18-24: according to the statistics, the number of male
users considerably exceeds the number of female users (60 per cent
against 40 per cent).
According to Aleksandr Izryadnov, localization of Odnoklassniki will
be held in two phases. The mobile version is already available in the
Armenian language.
"The main site will be available within a month. Android, iOs and
WindowsPhone applications will also be translated in the nearest
future," noted Aleksandr Izryadnov.
Answering a question on who he thinks is the main competitor of
Odnoklassniki in general and in Armenia particularly, Aleksandr
Izryadnov said: "Vkontakte is the main competitor of Odnoklassniki in
Russia. As for Armenia - it is Facebook here."
According to the company's representative, Odnoklassniki is not
already just a place for communicating with friends but is "a large
entertainment platform". At the same time, "family values" are still
the most important ones for the social network.
